Default Iron Block guys, is an LT1 radiator needed?

im putting an iron 370 in my 98, and was wondering if i would need an LT1 radiator, or if an LS1 radiator is sufficient.

just looking for options everyone else is doing.

I see no issues with a fully functional LS1 radiator. I have had both, the worst issue I had was with a older LT1 radiator that had pin hole leaks and allowed it to be air bound. Without knowing much else about the build, either radiator would work fine.

Personally if the car is a auto, run the cooler externally, so yo can run the lines right to an external and go with either a A4 or M6 Radiator (as m6 radiators do not have the provisions for a internal trans cooler)

I run the stock 98 ls1 radiator in my car with a 160 stat and it has no problems keeping my 12:1 370ci cool in traffic, just set the fan activation to sane temps in the tune and it works fine. My coolant temps never climb above 185.

You should be fine. We have run several high compression 408 stroker setups w/ factory radiators without an issue. I can't see you having an issue if everything is functioning properly. I say go for it!

i don't know everybody's opinion on dexcool, but i was told by my radiator repair guy who knows his stuff, and he said running dexcool will help transfer heat from the motor to the fluid, and from the fluid to the air @ the radiator. suppossedly that's why GM went to the thinner radiator design is because the dexcool makes up the difference. i personally run dexcool in all of my cars, but i do a complete flush first, and i really keep a close eye on it to check color change. i guess the only car we have that didn't originally have it is my 94 chrysler LHS. it has done wonderful since the last 2.5 years i have owned it. dexcool was the first fluid i changed (had leaky radiator that i replaced).
