Default Bolt On Suggestions for my 5.3 Sierra 1500 4WD

Hey Everyone!

I just joined this forum today and spend about an hour looking through it before I joined, lots of good info here!

I am looking for suggestions on my 2000 GMC Sierra Ext Cab 5.3 4WD truck! I use the truck to pull a boat in the summer months and just as a truck the rest of the year. I am getting ready to put on some Long Tube Headers and a free flowing Exhaust System, I already have a CAI. Is there anything else I could do without spending huge money that would net me some good HP and TQ gains?? Thanks to everyone in advance that helps out

A ported throttle body and an underdrive pulley are both cheap proven mods. A small cam would help out your mid-range a ton though.

I might look at the Cam after I get a Tune and this exhaust done! Do you have a name on a underdrive pulley?

my buddy bought the summit brand pulley for his 6.0 and likes it. i believe they are 180ish. thats the one im going to go with. Also i put a magnaflow muffler on my 98 blazer 5.3 swap and could tell a noticable difference.
Oh and x3 on the tune.. stock seems to be timing retard happy.

One of my buddies has a 2003 Z71 with the 5.3 and lots of mods. Stock he dynoed 236 at the wheels. Now he is doing around 345hp. The truck has 4.10's and the factory tow package.

Here is his list of mods
-Fast LSXR-T intake manifold
-BBK throttle body (85mm I think)
-K&N Cold Air Intake tube
-Electric fans
-180* thermostat
-Dynatech longtubes w/ high flow cats
-custom cam from West Coast Racing 214/214 112lsa
-918 springs and hardened pushrods
-EFI Live tune

The truck is a beast on the street, but he hasn't had one good run at the track cause he can't hook up on street tires.

Sounds mean!! I am not trying to build a race truck though, just something with some more power for pulling! So far I am thinking about the below list!

Long Tube Headers
Cat Deletes
Exhuast System
CAI
UD Pulley
E-Fan
BlackBear Custom Tune

I am thinking that should net me about 75HP.

Yeah, that list looks like it would make a really fun truck. I have a 2000 5.3 Sierra too but it is a base model work truck.
My buddy previously had JBA shorty headers on his 2003 and said that they gave awesome low-end. I have them now, but they are not installed as they don't have a provision for the EGR and I am not interested in deleting it due to emissions.

If you would like them (cheap) and are near the metro Detroit area (southwestern Michigan) or southwestern Ontario pm me.

No prob, the longtubes will really let the motor breath in the upper rpms and they sound awesome. You'll love them, I do in my Z.
