Default 145 amp F-body alternator?

Ok so I went through the thread "my fix to the endless alternators" and searched but couldn't find anything.

I need to know if there is an F-body style alternator with an amperage rating above the factory 105. I WOULD use the truck one, but I don't have the clearance with my swap. I need one that is the same exact size as the camaro one.

Can anybody point me in the right direction of what I should do? because the factory alternator just isn't cutting it and its a PITA to replace...I only wanna do it once. thanks.

This woulda beeen better off in the long thread....

What exactly is it about your clearance?

The truck alternator is slightly deeper than the stock unit.

the stock alt can be rebuilt into a higher wattage.....but its size is the main limitation compared to the truck alt.....the truck alt has the abilty to put out 2x the amps at half the RPMs.......i have changed out alts so much its a piece of pie

I would have put it in the long thread, but I tyhought that maybe a few other people had the same problem so I made a new thread.

my Fbody alternator is smaller than the truck one, so I can squeeze it in between the engine and the steering box. the truck one...not so much.

How's this working out for you?

GM did not make a CS130 160 alternator, they were all 105 amps. Same with the Lester number.

There's a few companies hot rodding them higher but they often have bigger rectifiers that stick out the back side making it bigger depth-wise, even bigger than the truck alternator. I've been told that it's actually very hard to reliably get much more out of the CS130 alternators than like 120 amps.

Did GM ever make any improvements to the stock Alt after 2002? I know sometimes they make engineering changes after production. Clearly it is not a good choice if so many folks are having so many issues...
