Default Short tube to long tube gains worth it?

What kind of gains should I expect from replacing my short tubes with some long tubes? I've been putting off buying long tubes for awhile but a good deal on some lightly used american racing headers came up locally. Is it worth it? Or should I just stick with the shorties. I have a little doubt over possible headaches that may come with the long tubes as well. The car runs perfect with the shorties, no rattles or leaks.

I would assume about a 5-10hp gain going from shorties to long tubes.

$800 for a 5hp gain? Maybe it isn't worth it after all...

Peak power will be 10-15, gains everywhere else will be just as big if not bigger. Definitely worth it in my book.

Yeah I'd estimate at least a 15 horse gain. $800 still sounds a little steep to me considering you can gt brand new pacesetters for half that.

Yes it is worth it. You have to remember with Long tubes you will use a 3 " Y pipe. That combo would add 20hp over shorties and the stock Y. 20 hp may not seem big but there is more to be had once you do internals.

Well the $800 is for ahr headers and catted y...good deal from what I've read. 5he point about a 3 inch y is very true too didn't really take that into account.

Since they really arent much or any better than the stock manifolds you should prob think of it as if you were upgrading from stock to LTs, unless you have an aftermarket 3" y or something. It will be worth it because it is worth it to do on stock cars, plus you can sell those shorties prob.
