Default Banging exhaust FML

Hey guys I have a 00 SS M6 and I just installed an SLP y pipe and its bolted up to a new TSP catback. I still have my stock maniolds. The exhaust bangs hard under the car under hard accelaration. I think its right where the tail pipe goes over the axle because the clearances look good everywhere else. Anyone experience this and if so did you fix it? Thx in advance guys!!!

Normally you can fix it with a new set of motor mounts.

Yeah, motor mounts or a hammer to the problem spots.

Hmmmm mounts sounds like a good idea. I've never changed em. I have thought about hammering but its on a tough spot.

You have to tighten it up with shims in between any
close pipe:undercarriage points. An inch thick wood is
good. You may want to hose-clamp a chunk of heater
or radiator hose to the top of the pipe wherever it is
banging. For me the tightest point is by the driveshaft
loop.

hmm, usually they bang right under the drivers seat, if it's hitting over the rear you will have to get a bracket welded in there to keep it from hitting, mine was hitting right under the drivers seat, i bough a clamp made specifically for this problem from mufflex and it solved the issue, the clamp was like $50 if i remember after shipping

I had this problem with my Borla Adjustable, banging in the same location and exhaust shield annoyingly vibrating -- they include no install instructions, so I finally figured out that the furthest forward pipe has a bend, and I had that bend pointed the wrong direction! Rotated it, and banging ceased! So happy!

Motor mounts??? I willing to bet it's your transmission mount that needs replacing, same thing was happening to me and when I installed my new clutch there was a tear in my tranny mount. It's a whole lot easier to change your tranny mount first and see if it fixes your problem than doing motor mounts.
