got some questions about longtube instal
so i have a 2002 z28 and at some point next week im having my longtubes and motor mounts installed at a shop for about 500 (yes i know alot) but i want it done right and i dont have the time to do a project like this in my free time. i also want a tune because the car is at 80k miles and i want to get the most out of my longtubes. i prob wont be doing cam and heads for a year or so, so i dont think i want to wait that long to get a tune. but once i get my ARH 1 3/4 with catted Y and keeping the AIR due to semi strict inspection in jersey(not really worried though i know some friends). my main question is how long can i wait to get the tune? it would most likely be within a month after the install, or would i have some problems with the stock tune? and just do it when i get them installed only saying this cause the tune is 350 and all this and college tuition is alot lol.
any help would appreciated thanks guys.

Some guys run their car un tuned for a while. It's not a big deal. I drove mine for about a month before I had it tuned AND I did my LT's and intake manifold at the same time. Don't sweat it.

Well what I can tell you is you DO need a dyno tune if you want to take full advantage of the Exhaust swap. What people do not realize that for most cars, once you put on a lid, headers, and a cat back you have maxed out the tune for fuel.
My personal exp.
Bone stock 2002- M6, 10 bolt, SLP LID ONLY 324 RWHP- Super Flow Dyno
Same Car- M6, 12 bolt (3.42), DYnatech headers with Catted Y, and a Corsa 325 RWHP and pulling tons of timing.
Same Car, Same Mods- Bolt on Dyno tune Mades 355 RWHP.
You can run on a stock tune but your not doing yourself any favors.

Maybe you meant 355HP with LTs, Y, catback, and a tune? Can you please clarify?

he obviously stated it was 325 without a tune. and 355 with a tune...a tune will def. help to make the max gains. but driving it on stock tune will cause no harm. been driving mine on stock tune for 2 years now with zero issues. id hold on to the tune if i were you since your going with a cam in a year or so. good luck.

say i do get it tuned at the same time as i get the longtubes installed i plan on having my friends local shop weld on a cutout afterwards. will this affect performance when it is open since it was not tuned with it?

As the other guy stated.
324 = Lid
325 = Lid exhaust 12 bolt Stock tune
355 = Same + Bolt on Dyno Tune

get the low profile one thats all you need. if you are just having a y pipe. cut out behind the y pipe where the y pipe goes to the i pipe. then there is a rubber gromet under the passengers side seat under the car. take that out and drill a whole in it. you may need to remove the seats to feed the wire for the switch under the carpet to the back of the center console. then take out the top part of the center console. open the center console lid and there are two bolts that hold that on and take that off then drill a whole in your ash tray and put the wires in the whole and on to the switch. thats how i was told to do it.
