Default 96mm Typhoon intake for $300 Buy It or Not??

Have a local guy with a 96mm Typhoon Intake with fuel rails and crossover tube unused. Wants $300 for it? Go for it or what and save for a fast 92 or 102?

Car is a bolt on car with factory ls1 intake. Getting a H/C Package this spring. Is the savings worth giving up alittle HP?

A lot of topics on this if you search, consensus being that it's not that good of an intake.

I would go for it. You'll most likely pay a little more than that for a used LS6 intake.

Everything I have read is that it slightly out performs the LS6, but the FAST out performs the Typhoon.

Enough threads of people disproving the issues with heat sink, and I've found that most of the Typhoon users praise it, and 95% of the people that bash it have never even had it.

I wouldn't buy it if I had the LS6, but with the LS1, and already taking the intake off for the H/C package, I would pick it up.

Just my .02 -- I haven't owned either, just going off of everything I've read when researching.

For the price its hard to turn down. Ive read a few threads about it. I wish someone had a dyno comparison between fast 92/ls6/typhoon. That would solve all of my problems.

I'm swapping from a 96mm Typhoon to a 102 Fast this weekend, but my local speed shop wouldn't give me a price break on intake vs intake dyno pulls, so it shall remain a mystery... they said no one cares about the difference!

Im sure there will be gains with fast 102. But enough to make $1000 worth? what intake did you switch from when you installed typhoon? Noticeable differences?

Make sure its the LS1 version, because I bought a 96mm used and realized during install it was the LS2 version
I have the Typhoon 85/85 setup and I definitely noticed a gain.

NicB, the only reason I'm doing the swap is that I found a brand new 102 combo on the local Craigslist for 900, tb, intake and all. If I can get 700 from the fast tb and 96mm typhoon, it's worth it. Otherwise, I'd agree with you! But sorry, the intake was put on when the motor was built to 383... Before was 300rwtq with some boltons and after was 422... I guess that's a pretty noticeable gain over the ls6 intake

Monmouth, the ls2 style was made to fit the ls1, you just have to get a tb and different fuel injector orings... Lol.

Fun fact here: as I was removing the typhoon yesterday, each intake bolts were VERY different with respect to tightness... Metal heats and expands, and this is no exception!
