Lets See The Custom Y-Pipes
I'm ordering my flowmaster merge in the morning dual 3" inlets and single 3.5" outlet. I'm going to try to hack up my speed daddy stainless y pipe and make it work the the flowmaster merge then connect it to a 3.5" mufflex.
Anyone that has made their own y pipe post up some pics, I need some inspiration

Wow, that Y-pipe looks fantastic. I may have custom built myself. Grab 1 or 2 high flow cats and have my mechanic fab them into a quality merge with some nice stainless pipes.
toad- If you don't mind me asking, how much $$ do you have tied up into the ypipe? You do it all yourself??

About $300.00 for the Y-pipe and merge + v-band clamps, the i-pipe was a SLP 304 Stainless I had in the shop for a while. I think I paid $50.00 for it when they blew them out a few years ago. The inserts were diff $. A pair of Vibrant 3.5" v-band clamps cost $80.00, the race muffler cost me $100.00 and the Hi flow Met cat was $129.00. I also made a insert with a elect cutout in it (not shown). Everything is 304 stainless, I use 308 wire in my lincoln mig to cobble it together with. Within the next week I am going to post a thread with dyno runs with the diff inserts and sound level readings with a DB meter and wave files so you can hear the diff exhaust notes as they are changed out. Open-straight-race muffler-hi flow cat. trying to set something up with a local dyno owner to do the runs. as soon as I get that done I will post up the results.

I would like to run a dual exhaust setup again, but I don't have the clearance with the new ride height, and I made up my mind that I would rather have a good fitting setup that sounds decent than a poor fitting setup that sounds badass. But hopefully the 3.5" mufflex with a Borla XR-1 will sound good, the damn mufflers are expensive.

That setup looks really good, I'm curious to see how your tests go.
This morning I ordered the Flowmaster merge along with some other parts so next weekend I'll start working on the y pipe

I did the sound wave test Friday and have some interesting results. One thing was the location of the cat after the merge and the concern of generating enough heat, and the cat just acting like a muffler. After a drive I pulled the cat and had core temps of 660 degrees, that was 15min after shutting of the motor. There was def a reduction in the exhaust order so the cat does work that far down stream from the motor. More to come.

My Y pipe, it's a Hooker that I had two Magnaflow Metallic Spun cats added. This was just after they were welded, I've not had it coated yet.

I received my flowmaster merge this week, I need to get to work here pretty soon. Only thing is that the Borla muffler I ordered is on backorder along with the Strange yoke for the 8.8. That and I just traded my 97 Taurus (work beater) for a 2000 Yukon (nice work vehicle) and I'm out of funds for a couple weeks again
Mufflex coming soon

1-7/8 Hooker Headers to Kooks 3" Y-Pipe...
custom Modified to a 4" Merge
we did have to beat the crap out of the floor boards in a few places as you can see in the second picture..LOL
and now there's a muffler on the back because I couldn't drive it for any length of time without getting a serious headache the way it is in this picture
