Default removing iron exhaust manifolds from iron heads

have a 2006 sierra with 8.1L and have an exhaust leak at the manifold. Rumors are that the manifolds are prone to cracking and/or the bolts break and result in minor leak. So it's a cast iron exhaust manifold mounted to a cast iron head, with very rusty looking nuts and studs. Any recommendations and tools on removing them? Worst case scenario let's say, i get out the torch and cut stuff off and I'm left with a broken stud in the head, how hard are those to get out?

I've drilled out exhaust bolts in SBC heads before. It's
all in hand/eye - can you stay straight in the bore and
not ruin the threads? Off engine, of course. Cobalt bit,
start small. But best not to break them to begin with.

Offhand I'd suggest giving each bolt head a pop with
the ball pein hammer, then try to tighten each one until
it turns slightly, after which you can back it out knowing
it's not dead stuck.

I always put silver anti-seize on anything going into the
block.

agreed with statement above do not break them to begin with also i use pb blaster or some type of penetrating oil and have not broken one in a really long time and if feels like its not going to turn try toucking the nuts with a soldering iron to get them to expand a little before removal this trick works well with marine stuff good luck and for tools a 3/8 ratchet and couple extensoins and a universal joint
