The sealing lip thickness on the filter makes a big difference. You can see the difference between the Fram and the A/C Delco's. The A/C Delco's seals up real snug.

The K&N filter comes with a foam seal that tapes to the underside of the lid to compensate since the K&N designated for our cars is thinner than the normal filter for our cars. Make sure you take out the seal before putting another type of filter in the lid. If that is not your problem then I don't know why the filter is not fitting.

Thread revive but I installed a Wix filter under my SLP lid and the fit was VERY SNUG this weekend. Guess it is better than having a loose lid. Anyone else running the Wix air filter under an SLP lid?

At least from my reading the K&N lets more particulate matter in as it gains higher flow by filtering less and there is a risk of oil on the MAF. I have run K&N filters on my cars in the past but for my WS6 I went with a Wix filter though the fit with the lid is very tight and the lid is visibly raised in the rear.
