Default Borla xr-1 vs Flowmaster 10 series

I need opinions on these mufflers guys. I have a 00' SS m6 with stock cats/manis with an slp y and it had a tsp c/b but the bullet took a beating with the car being lowered and it had a hole in it so I temporarily replaced it with pipe. Its pretty loud and it suprisingly has no rasp, it sounds like a cutout pretty much. I know I will get sick of it so I want to know if anyone on here has heard the xr1 or flowmaster 10 series with stock manifolds. I'm getting shorties and flanged cats down the road. No LT's ( california car). Thx in advance guys!

Im not sure, possibly the 10 series is different, but most all flowmaster flow poorly. Not to mention, you can't beat the sounds of an xr-1.

just my .02

Redlineracing I've been leaning a lot more toward the xr1 for sure. A lot of the guys that I know have that muffler but have long tubes as well so it'll sound way different on my dd. Decisions decisions!

The flowmaster 80 series, which is designed for fbodys, is a crappy muffler that doesnt flow very well...however, alot of their other mufflers, mainly the single and double chamber mufflers are good. Its just the crappy crossflow junk muffler that sucks.

Either the Borla 40085, Magnaflow 14419, or the flowmaster 10 series. The 10 series might be a tight fit and better served putting one before each exhaust tip.

my single chamber literally has 2 Vs inside the muffler. it has to flow reasonably well. my 80 series on the otherhand prob looks like pacman inside, it is very quiet even with 1 7/8 headers and a tsp ory.

my 80 series was louder and raspier with manifolds and a mac ory than it is now...weird. i'd assume either of those mufflers would sound ok with manifolds and cats.

Don't forget the Magnaflow #12867 (14" case L, 5" Dia.) very similar to the Borla #40085, but $37 less.

I would do the Borla just because it'll tuck up better. Never heard one on stock manifolds but I like it with LTs and a cam dumped.

The Borla won't tuck up any better than the Magnaflow #12867, their both 5" diameter cases, but the Magnaflow#14419 will tuck up even better than both of those since it has a 4" diameter case.

I meant they will fit better than the flowmaster. Any bullet muffler should tuck better than a square on a f body.
