Default Any tips to get crank pulley off with the heads off?

I'm having a lot of trouble getting this pulley off without the air pressure the heads offer to stop the assembly from rotating. Any tips?

Sorry, I didn't provide enough info! It's on an engine stand, out of the car, no trans attached.

Well that certainly changes things now doesn't it, lol.

Only thing that comes to mind is an impact.

Yup, that's what I was afraid of. I don't have access to one right now and was hoping there would be another way.

Guess it doesn't have a flywheel installed? Otherwise hold the flywheel. Or install 2 bolts in the crank and a screw driver/prybar to hold it from turning

Is the oil pan off?
If so, stick a piece of 2x4 between a crank lobe and the side of the block.

Do you have a puller tool, advance auto auto zone carry them then just put a pry bar threw the pulley under the pan to wedge it in their.

Sweet, I'll try that too. Might do that first; it sounds a bit easier.

I put a socket extension in a hole in the gear at the back of the crank. Worked like a charm. Thanks!

Breaker bar and a cheater. Two flywheel bolts on the end of the crank. Wedge a pry bar between the bolts and the engine stand and let her eat.

Prying against the reluctor wheel? Definitely NOT a good idea, if that wheel gets out of round by more than a few thousands, the crank sensor may no longer read it...
