Default Starter bolt stripped.

I was driving the my Trans am and heard a piece of metal fall. Stopped the car and found my starter bolt on the ground. ( the longer one) has anyone rethread this hole before? Is it repairable? What size bolt did you go with?

Thanks for the help

Are you sure it didn't just back out?

I've drilled and rethreaded a messed up starter bolt hole
on an iron SBC, no prob.

No. it wasnt the first time this happened. When I tried to tighten it, it felt like it broke loose. I have two new bolts and was going to drill holes in them then wire them together so they wont back out again. What size did you rethread it with? Dont want to over do it. One backed out completely and the other one broke the ear off the starter. Now I have to buy a new starter because of the broken ear. I tried to weld it back together but since it was aluminum...which I knew it wouldn't work, it didn't stick. The aluminum just turned to liquid. lol Not so funny though since I have to get another one. :-(
