Default Shaner, LSX, or MTI Throttle Body?

I have an extreme bolt on car and I need a throttle body to match my new 78mm LSX intake. Are there any gains to be seen between the ported stockers or the aftermarket? I don't mind spending the money if there are gains to be seen. What do you guys think?

I tried a Bauer TB last year and all it did was throw SESs! I sent it back 7 TIMES, and still threw the code. I'm kind of leaning toward and aftermarket piece to cutout downtime, but I hear Shaner is the man.

We also have an Accufab piece that flows over 150cfm over a stock TB. Fully billet, all ball bearings and stainless hardware $399

I don't think you'll see any difference between a Shaner/Bauer/Jantzer ported TB's. All three of them produce equally good product. Bauer and Jantzer are sponsors of this site so you should give careful consideration to their products.

I would be surprised if you pick up additional HP from an aftermarket throttle body vs. a stock ported one. I certainly don't think the performance difference would be worth the money.

Good luck.

So you think the aftermarket ones aren't good enough for the $$$. Yeah, I'm just afraid of getting mine ported and having no stocker to put on if it doesn't work correctly.

That acucfab looks like a nice piece, what's the difference between that and MTI's? They look very similar.

I used to think they were all similar.. That was until I tried the Shaner2. It's the best hands down. It never threw a code and I gained 2 tenths. Give him a shout..

Good Luck with your setup.

I watched that episode because Bret (Bauer Racing Engines) uses our UPS service. I'm not sure about the 7 times, but I believe I remember the eventual outcome also. It's a long story.

Aftermarket or Shaner sounds like a good plan for you, DJ.

Good luck.

So I can't go wrong with a Shaner TB? I think I'll call him up.

Yeah and you are the only case of a TB never working in all of the throttle bodies we have ever done. (well over 200TB's) The odd thing is that TB ran on our personal test car for a week with no codes. I hope you find one that does work for you.

That wasn't exactly what I meant.

I get to test some of Bret's Vette TBs especially for idle performance with the throttle-by-wire. Never saw any SES lights, ever.

Ok, well I did get a SES over 5 times, but all I want to know is if the LSX or any of the aftermarket TBs will outperform the ported stockers (Shaner etc...)

My Bauer TB never threw the SES code and works like a charm. My buddy with a BBK TB on the other hand has had nothing but problems.

Every car's different bro. My car didn't like Bret's work, but hopefully it'll like another TB.
