Shaner, LSX, or MTI Throttle Body?
I have an extreme bolt on car and I need a throttle body to match my new 78mm LSX intake. Are there any gains to be seen between the ported stockers or the aftermarket? I don't mind spending the money if there are gains to be seen. What do you guys think?
I tried a Bauer TB last year and all it did was throw SESs! I sent it back 7 TIMES, and still threw the code. I'm kind of leaning toward and aftermarket piece to cutout downtime, but I hear Shaner is the man.

I don't think you'll see any difference between a Shaner/Bauer/Jantzer ported TB's. All three of them produce equally good product. Bauer and Jantzer are sponsors of this site so you should give careful consideration to their products.
I would be surprised if you pick up additional HP from an aftermarket throttle body vs. a stock ported one. I certainly don't think the performance difference would be worth the money.
Good luck.

So you think the aftermarket ones aren't good enough for the $$$. Yeah, I'm just afraid of getting mine ported and having no stocker to put on if it doesn't work correctly.
That acucfab looks like a nice piece, what's the difference between that and MTI's? They look very similar.

I used to think they were all similar.. That was until I tried the Shaner2. It's the best hands down. It never threw a code and I gained 2 tenths. Give him a shout..
Good Luck with your setup.

I watched that episode because Bret (Bauer Racing Engines) uses our UPS service. I'm not sure about the 7 times, but I believe I remember the eventual outcome also. It's a long story.
Aftermarket or Shaner sounds like a good plan for you, DJ.
Good luck.

I get to test some of Bret's Vette TBs especially for idle performance with the throttle-by-wire. Never saw any SES lights, ever.
