Patriot stage 3 heads and decent sized cam with ls6 intake low power! Help track time
I have a 01 ws6 that has a all forged cast iron 5.3 bored to 347. It has a set of patriot stage 3 heads with a 232/236 cam 114lsa I'm pretty sure are the specs was in old motor, my tuner said my ls6 intake can't flow enough and is limiting my hp. It made exactly 400 on a mustang Dyno what are your guys thoughts ?

I would think an ls6 would be fine for a 5.3 but at the same time your cam is in the medium range, so maybe try to either do the home port job on your ls6 intake, or step it up to say a fast 78 or 90.
here is the link for a home port job if your interested in trying it out.

also if you worried about the number thing, it could just be the dyno you used, i would say take it to the track, that will tell you for sure if your down on power.
One other thing is maybe double check your tune, that can make a big difference on a h/c/i car.

Op are you an auto or m6.......while I agree it should be more mustang dynos are notoriously low reading. With an ls6 intake I would imagine you should be around 430rwhp. Im not a big fan of patriot heads.

stage 3 heads usually involves bigger valves then needed for a ls1 bore .if the valves are too close to the cylinder wall ,it can hurt flow and power.consider a bbk intake ,it flows better then a ls6 intake .whats injectors do you have ?

OP where did u get that tuned? If in Rochester , FWIW New Era uses a Dynojet. I think ur low, what supporting mods do u have? again as asked are u A4 or M6? Also heavy rims and perhaps 12bolt or 9inch?If A4, big stall converters can eat up a few horses on the dyno as well..my .02

It is a mustang dyno...
They can be calibrated to read whatever. Take it to the track or put it on a dynojet with SAE correction so you can compare to other setups on here.

Ok thank you for all the replies, when I had it on the mustang Dyno (got it done at Wilson's performance not new era) it was a m6 and it made exactly 400hp. Then I switched to a turbo 400 with a 4k stall still on stock rear (ya ik in the process right now this winter putting a fab9 in) and had the tune changed just a little for the turbo 400. at the track the best time was a 10.5 at 123 mph with a 150 shot off the footbrake it went 1.4 60ft just looked at the time slip, but the best time on motor was a 12.0. At 114. I feel like the car 60fts well but there is just something limiting the hp and the only thing I can think of is the stock ls6 intake stock ported polished tb stock maf, and a slp lid. I saw a article where they put a 102 fast on a 5.3 and picked up like 25hp at the crank, so I think I'm going to go with that just in case this motor explodes this summer I have a nice intake for my 406 But if you guys can think of anything elts please let me know

Yes the car is black and very clean And yes I did run the last day at empire I remember your car . I'm not sure on compression ratio, but the converter in my turbo 400 is coan 8" that was behind a 500 cubic inch 800hp car , so it's not really FOR my car it stalls at about 4k and I cut 1.4 1.39 60ft on the 150 shot and 1.6 n/a.
