Installed headers, now have bad 02 sensors
I just installed a set of mac headers with the off road Y on my 98 trans am.
at first it seemed to run really good after the install, but now my back two 02 sensors are screwed up. I pulled all four out, and the fronts looked fine but the backs were all carboned up and black. now it's running like it has a misfire, had a mechanic scan it and saw the back 02's were'nt working. If I replace them do you think that they'll burn out again without converters??

Without the cat they are not getting burned up, they
are fouling with hydrocarbons (incl. some straight carbon,
the mixture being soot). Take them out and put bung plugs
and kill the codes, or run O2 sims. The rear O2s serve no
purpose except checking the health of your now-missing
kidneys. Fronts stay hot enough to burn off most of the
spooge but the backs don't, I bet is the problem.
Bung plugs are a bitch to find, but M18x1.5 oil drain plugs
are as close as AutoZone (they are not proper tapered
pipe thread but will go in "far enough" I reckon).

I just got my headers installed and I am having a hesitation/bucking almost like a missfire at a cruising speed... If I whack it - it takes right off. Let me know what you find out...

I'm getting the same type of hesitation/bucking/knocking, it kind of seems like a misfire, but my car does it when I'm at a stop or reversing slowly. It all started after I got my Hooker Long Tubes and ORY installed plus the O2 simmulators as will. Haven't scan the car yet, but will soon because I don't know what the problem is.
