Default Exhaust DIY?

Hi!
I am putting a LS1 engine from a Camaro in my Nissan 240sx.
I have some questions regarding the exhaust system on my LS1 swap.

- What size pipes would you recommend for the headers? I am going to fabricate it myself.
- How far away from exhaust ports would it be a good idea to assemble the 4 pipes to 1?
- Where would it be a good idea to assemble the 2 pipes, coming from both sides if the engine?
- What size of pipe is needed for the assembly of the 2 pipes going backwards?
- I am planning on, in the near future(maybe a year), adding a compressor. Does it make any difference in what size of pipes I should choose?

I hope these questions isn't to big of a mouthful! Any help is much appreciated!

Regards Jack

I made these to fit a thirdgen with 1 3/4" primaries and 3" collectors. As far as lengths you will probably have to go with what fits.

Cool. 1 3/4 is it inner or outer diameter?
What about the rest of the exhaust? My plan was only one pipe going backward. 3" or 4" when the headers are collected?

header tubes are measured in od. so getting 1-7/8 inner is like a 2" outter. just get a standard 1-7/8 od header tube. nice work op

search for exhaust calculators - there are many available online that will help to determine proper primary size and length, collector size and length, merge points, etc based on what you're running. there's more to it than building what physically fits in the car, though that certainly is an important consideration.

T56:-)

Yes I know Sikky offers some headers, but my car is RHD and my engine mounts are home made, so don't thinks Sikky headers would fit:-(

But I'll try to find a calculator:-)
