Default Couple exhaust questions

1) Are the TSP headers stainless or coated? The description on the website doesn't mention any finish. Could they be unfinished?

2) I have no emissions testing where I live. So as I understand it, I have no reason to have a catted Y. I'll get better flow out of an OR Y. How will lack of cats affect sound? I'm trying to avoid rasp and promote the stereotypical muscle car sound.

3) I'll be topping off this exhaust setup with a Magnaflow Catback. Any suggestion/concerns I should be aware of?

4) I'm not doing any other major mods in the future, so now would be a good time to get a tune? Will I have to worry about backfiring/exhaust popping prior to a tune?

1) Uncoated stainless.

2) Catless will be louder, and less "refined" with more rasp.

3) Magnaflow is good unless you dont like the tips, but you can get the more expensive version with quad tips.

4) To maximize the gains a tune would be ideal. I would recommend getting a lid, ram air, and LS6 intake/ ported TB (if you ever intend to get one) before the tune.

Yes they are stainless.. A great header for sure. I run a set of there 1 7/8 header.

Magnaflow is alright.. It was pretty quiet. If I were to buy a catback right now, it would be borla.

Magnaflow is very quiet to me. The best sounding Magnaflow i've heard was on a supercharged camaro, but it was just raspy and still very quiet

Does anyone know where I can get JUST a borla muffler? I'm gonna have a local shop fab up the other pipes. I don't wanna shell out 800 for a catback when I could buy a muffler and have them fab the rest. I can't seem to find just the muffler anywhere. Anyone recommend another muffler?

Are you talking about putting a muffler in the I-pipe area or in the rear?

These can be VERY loud/defening depending on the rest of the setup.

The other thing about no catcons is that you WILL have some exhaust stink, NO MATTER HOW well 'tuned' it is, or you are told it "can be" by those on here.

I was looking to keep it in the stock location, not in the I. Is Borlamouth the same as having the XR1 in the I?

I didn't think borla made a single in dual out muffler just by itself.. That was my first choice but I didn't wanna buy the whole setup. I went ahead and went with hooker LT's, ORY, magnaflow catback and an electric cutout for fun. All too be installed by thursday. Damn I can't wait.

Well that was just personal opinion some people want their cars loud and also the louder it is means the more free flowing it is

Correct, it uses the SLP loudmouth system, but the SLP resonator/muffler is replaced with the xr1in the I pipe.

Yes, THIS^^^ is why I went with the BIG Magnaflow "motorhome" muffler, and took off the XR1 (which I WISH I did not have to do since it was ALL austenitic 304 stainless, unlike the Magnaflow which is 409 ).

The XR1 was making my ears ring, even with the windows up, and stock; maniflods/catcons.

Maybe so, but they WILL pay for it later on in life with drastically reduced hearing, constant and PERMANENT LOUD tinnitus, and the need for embarassing, and VERY costly hearing aids.

Many on here may have that 'immortal/indestructible youth syndrome', or not care thinking they will not live that long, but they MUST ask themselves whether or not sounding cool and 'menacing', or a couple of rwhp, are worth that, in case they DO live that long.

I'm a musician. I definitely appreciate my hearing. I always use hearing protection when I play any instrument at loud volumes so I don't want to damage that. Maybe the large motor home muffler by Magnaflow is right for me?

What do you guys think of the Hooker Aero Muffler?
