Default Lowering With True Duals

I know the topic has been discussed quite a bit around here, but I was wondering if the clearance issue with duals could be resolved by kind of reshaping the pipe into a flatter oval shape. Theoretically, it'd have the same flow space on the inside, right? Kind of how the piping on the stock system is highlighted in the pic, but all the way through. Can't help but feel it'd hurt flow around the bends or something like that, though. Not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but I don't know where else I'd get any answers but you guys. Thanks!

i was lowered almost 2" all the way around and ran TSP 3" duals......it was fine except on the tallest speedbumps......the duals actually tucked up tighter than the catted y-pipe i'm running now

That's good to know! I've read more than a few people saying you've got to decide between duals or sticking to a Y-pipe/catback system for clearance... Glad it's not a universal case.

If you have the money... you can get oval piping from spintech I believe.

If you are worried about clearance you can get away with 2.5" pipes in a true dual setup and still put down 450rwhp through that kind of setup. I had FLP longtubes running 2.5" TD's and it wasn't even visible when you glanced under the car.

I have a 3" true duals on a lowered car. As stated before everything was fine other than speed bumps and the damn automatic car wash with undercarriage nozzles sticking well above what they should be.

My car is lowered, just put a new motor in and will be putting in SpinTech 3" oval from the headers, over the axles and out under the rear bumper. I have all of the piping, transitions, X pipe, 60 & 90 degree bends in 3" oval pipe. I will transition back to 3" round just short of the axles and go over into dual race mufflers and out the back.

Should sound gritty!

i had 3" true duals on my last camaro and the only issue i had was tall *** speed bumps. and yes more bends in the piping=less efficient flowing of the exhaust gas

My old 02 Z28 i ran pacesetters, 3 in duals dumped with BMR lowering springs, and i had no issues at all. That also includes going over regular speed bumps.
