Just install poly motor mounts, should I do trans too?
Well I just got done doing the poly's. Not bad but save yourself some frustration and leave all the mounts (motor & k-member) fairly loose to help you get the bolts thru. Anyway they were not that bad but still a pain. I did not need a drill press to get the rivets out, just a punch and a nice NEW & sharp drill bit. I only used the hardware to clamp the shell down then welded the outside of the shell, removed the bolts then filled the holes with welds. IMO the bolts are unneeded weight, yeah I know they don't weigh much.
Anyways I thought I read that you should not do the rear trans mount if you did the motor mounts. Did a search and could find anyone who has done all three mounts. So has any done this? Whats your review?? I have a stock 346 w/ a 224/228 581/574 on a 114LSA so she will lump a bit. Oh the car is a M6.
Thanks in advance for your input.

No, don't do the tranny mount. I installed all three and the vibration in the passenger compartment drove me nuts. I put the original tranny mount back in and all is well.

The car is still in the process of getting the cam installed so a review will follow. I just wanted to ask before I waste my money.

Interesting, I have a set of Prothane Poly engine mounts that I was just about to install. I have the Poly tranny mount and Poly TQ Arm mount for my new BMR Chromoly Adj. TQ Arm that will be going in the car as well. Since my car is not designed to be a strip car - just a solid performer - it sounds like I should skip installing the Poly motor mounts to avoid any unwanted harshness or vibration... Correct? Thanks, Patrick

I run the Poly motor mounts and poly tranny mount with no plate and bumps shaved off.
The motor mounts IMO don't cause much, if any more noticible vibration in the interior. The tranny mount even with the bumps cut and no plate does cause a little more viration in the interior.. but far from anything bad.

I was just trying to accumulate some info on swapping mounts, how much harder do you think it would have been if your were just installing these without changing K members?

Yes it'll be harder. If you got skillz its not that bad, just a pain. Take out your Alternator and remove your AC comp. and hang it up out of the way with the lines still connected. That will give you all the access you need. I think my headers actually gave me more room then what the factory pipes would.

I'm not really concerned w/ the passenger side. So according to your experience, removing the alt yields enough room to get the driver side mount in and out? What extensions/swivels do I need? How much time am I looking at? I've heard the heat shield is a as big a pain in the *** as the mount to remove?
