I did over the axles and it came out like crap. Driver side was right up against the wire loom, and panhard would hit it on big bumps. I ended up swapping to side exits that I like it better. Niether is something that I would want on a daily driver, but mine is a track car only these days. True 3" with x-pipe and bullets with mandrel bends, and ground clearance isn't great.

thanks......its 2.5" pipe with a H-pipe. i lost NO ground clearance at all. i actually have more clearance than my old 3" true duals dumped before the axle (got sick of interior drone).

the h pipe seems to give the car a more raw muscle car sound. the x pipe gives more of a higher pitched rev sound, can't really explain the difference any better sorry. xp ipe will make more power, the h pipe just sounds better....i went with an x pipe..ill be switching to an h soon....i havea similar set up to got hp's used his photos to do mine!

if you are having an exhaust shop make you true duals, you better hope they are good enough to make either relatively easily. most likely, when they charge you for the fabrication that will include the price to order you a pre-made x or H section anyways. **** that would probably be cheaper anyhow then them taking/and charging you an hour of labor plus material to make one small x/h peice.

the pipe goes straight back from the header to the axle (no bends means better flow), the H-pipe goes across near the tranny mount, theres flanges on each side before it goes under the axle, that way i can unbolt the rear half of my exhaust when i goto the track and just run open headers+hpipe for max power.
entire setup cost about $450 out the door from a custom exhaust shop.
sorry no sound files yet, but i will after i drop the new motor in.

i actually received an x pipe from a friend kind of out of a trade. long story. most universal h pipes will run about 75-130 bucks (for off road ones of course).
what kind of exhaust set up do you have right now?

Most exhaust shops will have no problem making an H-pipe. I know of several in my area that do it on almost every dual exhaust they install regardless of what kind of car. Many can fabricate an X-pipe as well, but for some reason they all prefer using an H.
