Probably the best soudning exhaust. You have the sound and power of duals, without the interior drone. But it has to go under the axle, which will lose a little bit of ground clearence. You can go over, but it's VERY difficult with duals and expensive also.

I did over the axles and it came out like crap. Driver side was right up against the wire loom, and panhard would hit it on big bumps. I ended up swapping to side exits that I like it better. Niether is something that I would want on a daily driver, but mine is a track car only these days. True 3" with x-pipe and bullets with mandrel bends, and ground clearance isn't great.

thanks......its 2.5" pipe with a H-pipe. i lost NO ground clearance at all. i actually have more clearance than my old 3" true duals dumped before the axle (got sick of interior drone).

the h pipe seems to give the car a more raw muscle car sound. the x pipe gives more of a higher pitched rev sound, can't really explain the difference any better sorry. xp ipe will make more power, the h pipe just sounds better....i went with an x pipe..ill be switching to an h soon....i havea similar set up to got hp's used his photos to do mine!

yeah.....X caused some resonance at 2200rpm also.......H is more refined deep sound with no resonance.

if you are having an exhaust shop make you true duals, you better hope they are good enough to make either relatively easily. most likely, when they charge you for the fabrication that will include the price to order you a pre-made x or H section anyways. **** that would probably be cheaper anyhow then them taking/and charging you an hour of labor plus material to make one small x/h peice.

ya thats the hardest part about this, is finding an exhaust shop that i know wont do a shitty job, can you buy pre fabbed H sections for our cars?

its not lowered, but will be soon. i dont really forsee any problems except for the really high speed bumps.

the pipe goes straight back from the header to the axle (no bends means better flow), the H-pipe goes across near the tranny mount, theres flanges on each side before it goes under the axle, that way i can unbolt the rear half of my exhaust when i goto the track and just run open headers+hpipe for max power.

entire setup cost about $450 out the door from a custom exhaust shop.

sorry no sound files yet, but i will after i drop the new motor in.

a few none sponser sites have premade x and h pipes for universal use. one of the most popular these days for the x pipe is dr. gas. great peice. however, two of the most popular performance parts catalogs do sell h pipes made for universal applications that fit long tube headers. basically all u'd need is for a shop to cut and bend them a little bit to get them to fit.

i actually received an x pipe from a friend kind of out of a trade. long story. most universal h pipes will run about 75-130 bucks (for off road ones of course).

what kind of exhaust set up do you have right now?

Most exhaust shops will have no problem making an H-pipe. I know of several in my area that do it on almost every dual exhaust they install regardless of what kind of car. Many can fabricate an X-pipe as well, but for some reason they all prefer using an H.

stock manifolds, stock y pipe, single 3 1/2 tube to the back with a single chamber flowmaster, and a cutout before the muffler. probably have seen systems like it, except most i have seen are 4 inch.

i have a feeling doing this is cheaper than ordering a pre fabbed H pipe, is this so?
