Default Dual Cutouts in y pipe? Thoughts?

So i recently put on a SLP dual dual from a Loudmouth 2 and i am defnitely missing the sound. Dual dual sounds great at WOT but crusing around is pretty quiet. I have the chance to buy 2 2.5 inch cutouts which would fit into my y pipe as i have BBK which is 2.5. My question is:

How will it sound?
Is there a good place to mount them so i wont loose alot of clearance?
Is it worth it over doing just a single cutout in the I pipe?

Thanks, Brandon

It will sound like crap, add weight, and be a pain in the ****.

That said, I have dual exhaust with dual cutouts and the car is a little faster with them open. But it is ungodly loud and sounds like garbage so using them anywhere but the track is pointless.

If u had a cam it would sound good but without a cam I would not do it. You will hate how horrible it sounds.

I have the single cutout in the I pipe. I've heard the dual cutouts in the Y pipe and like said above it sounds cheap and bad unless you have a cam where it's just really loud, hence the whole point of cutouts

It would also screw up your A/F ratio since the O2s would be to close to the exhaust exits.

My 1998 z28 had dual cutouts on it...it was a 347ci h/c/I setup with nitrous. TREX V2 cam...car picked up 21 rwhp on back to back n/a pulls over a magnaflow catback with no change in tune. Others wont see that type of gain though b/c their setup may not be as restricted as mine was. If youre wanting to run electric openers, right after tge headers is a bad idea...trust me. I couldnt keep them working for very long due to the heat and how little room thrre is for them in that location. They will take a beating.

I was at the track again yesterday and did several runs open then several closed.

Cutouts are worth between .6 and 1 mph on my car over 3" duals with no crossover.

If you wish to run dual cutouts on your y pipe please use the low profile oval ones. Standard round ones do not fit properly. Any questions feel free to contact us.

Thanks guys i decided against the idea. I will most likely be picking up a standard 3inch cutout and stainless steel y pipe from you all in the up coming weeks.

^That is what I have and if I had to do it again I would. Being able to control how loud and obnoxious you want to be is pretty fun.

i have dual 3'' electric cutouts just after the end of longtubes...seems expensive but its well worth it just hitting a switch to go from a badass muscle sound to wtf open header bbc sound...if i did it again id get the mopre expensive ones cause any that just "butterfly'' to open/close like a throttle body are going to leak and that sound does get annoying

I experimented with cutouts off the headers and it sounded terrible. Ended up going with one in the intermediate pipe, added a turn down on the valve to reduce rasp and it just what I was looking for. He's a sound clip.....nothing at idle in this video, but you get the general idea....little rasp or drone:

i had dual cutouts on my x pipe, had a cam so it sounded cool, like a race car almost, but it smelled terrible, had terrible ground clearance and everytime you open them just be ready to drop the $100 for new O2 sensors. so when i fixed an exhaust leak in my X ans swapped it for an H i had them removed, couldnt be happier.

Fix for that: get the O2 sensors tuned out
