Default adding true collector to a jethot y pipe?

i think i want to put this Y pipe transition (NOT the X one):

into my jethot Y pipe:

anyone ever do that before? the pass side looks like a piece of cake to do; the drivers side may be a bit more tricky.

reason is because the merge in the jethot y pipe sux @ss!!

I think the actual Flowmaster merge collector will allow even more power gain but that one looks like it will be easier to incorporate into the basic Jet Hot/Hooker style Y pipes.

flowmaster doesn't come with a 3" in/3" out.

Installing a Flowmaster Collector will be difficult. The angles on the pipes are all wrong and would be better to sell the JH Y-Pipe and get a custom Y-Pipe.

I agree, and the issue mentioned above makes it even worse of course.

Just get the 3x3x3-1/2 and reduce it to fit your catback. That's what I have.

I'm running the Hooker version with a flowmaster 3 in 3.5 out collector into a 3.5 cutout and then reducing it to 3 for the catback. Before I was running a bullet muffler and stil had some rasp. With the new setup the car has 0 rasp! Sounds great! I'm very happy with the setup.

Yes I'd like to see some pics too if you can post them or email them (thinkhink@msn.com) to me...I might be getting a Hooker Y and would consider this.

no juice, FYI....i never got pics from john.

i am going with magnaflow "Y transition pipe " that is pictured. its 3" in and 3" out so i don't have to deal with reducers. i have a spohn torque arm that mounts in the stock location (its a relatively new design; most people think of spohn that mounts in the tunnel brace location). it hangs down .5 to 1 inch lower in the front than the stock TA. that is what necessitated this whole change of mine. i had a mufflex y pipe with cats using stock torque arm. but then i switched to spohn TA but it hit my mufflex y pipe right where the cat was (drivers side). so i got the jethot Y pipe because the cats are no where near the TA. and it fit fine. but the transition area is so ugly!
see my website for pics; go to "Modification" page using drop-down menu at top.

did you do track comparison with this idea? did you make a run with the regular jethot y and then modify the y and make a run without adding anything else? please let me know if this made a track difference

Did this cut down on the rasp? Or did you not have any with the cats? just curious?

i don't know what i was smoking when i made that last post, but i have annoying rasp between 2000-2500 RPM now that i removed the cats. it sounds like a trumpet at full blast. i just ordered a bullet muffler 18 inches to take care of the rasp. i'll see if it works.
