Cleaning up OEM T/A aluminum oval tips
I want to be different from everyone else, and put stock tips back on my '01 T/A. I know the pipe size is smaller. The tips are pretty crusty and oxidized.
My thought was sandblast them, paint the inside black with high heat paint, tape off the inside and blast the outside again to get any overspray, polish the outside lip some, then spray them with VHT clear before welding them on.
Thoughts?

The tip inlets should be 2.25" like the Camaro , and if the inlet on the TA tips is tapered(like in this photo) then you should be able to cut the inlet back closer to the tip for at least a 2.5"(maybe 3") diameter size which should allow for plenty of flow.
I'd polish the whole outside of the tip, otherwise don't polish it at all. If you decide to go ahead and polish it I'd try using a work bench mounted grind with a buffing/polishing wheel if possible to expedite the polishing without wearing your arms/hands out.
