Default Fast 92mm intake install

just curious if anyone has done the manifold swap and not changed out the valley cover bolts. my stock bolt heads looked smaller than the ones they provided so I kept them on and everything worked just fine.

Nope thats playing with fire. The heads of the correct bolts you should have gotten are flat pan head bolts and the stock ones look like this.

the correct bolts look like this

if you didnt change these out you have a high risk of cracking the intake its very common. I'd change them out before doing anything else.

Agreed! The button head bolts are much lower profile then the stock 10mm bolts. I just swapped mine today. Currently In the process of a H/C/I swap.

I have to agree with these guys.. I don't care what the current bolts look like, I'd swap them for the correct ones just to be sure. You don't want to make that mistake

Question for you,

If I get the Fast intake, What else do I need to buy? fuel rails? TB? Etc?

Depends on the fast you go with. The 92 will need nothing except the flat valley cover bolts. Everything else bolts up. The 102 will require ls2 fuel rails and some sort of injector spacers depending on which ones you use.

Okay thanks,

I am a pretty good mechanic, but I am rather new to tinkering with these cars. I am just trying to prevent tuning the car more than needed. If the 92 is pretty good, I may just go with that.

I would assume that it is way better than the stock stuff I have on now?

My new advice for any new member on here is WAIT for results of the new MSD intake. I have a funny feeling it's going to smash the FAST lol

I doubt it's going to smash a Fast on the lil 346. Big cube motors I would agree...I do hope I am wrong tho.

This I think the msd or mid length runners will be the way to go on a big cube air hungry motor but for a lil 346 I think they will be pretty close, hell a stock 102 fast out flows 243 heads by a good margin where they're lightly ported.

Dont base your opinion on that, any intake you go to fast 92 fast 102 or anything else will need to be tuned
