The sounding like crap is an opinion. I think they sound like crap, raspy and not pleasant. True duals flow better and have mufflers that take out the raspyness. Just my .02

The Y-pipe sounds different than an X or H-pipe. I think that's the biggest factor. IMO the LM sounds cool on stock manifolds, but I just didn't care for it with LT's (even with cats). As noted above, just my opinion.

the slp resonator isn't the same thing as the bullet muffler. resonator is just an open expanded hollow pipe, the bullets have ceramic packing in them (around the straight through area). I believe rasp comes more from the Y pipe set up than anything else. cause i heard a mustang with the slp loudmouth dual system without cats and it was ******* loud as **** but it wasn't all raspy.

So the dynomouth will sound better than the LM with that setup? I already got the go for the true dual by my muff guy, but of course the y-setup is much cheaper. Also, is there much HP difference from a dynomouth to a true dual? I dont know if its worth it.

Have you listened to the sound clips over at www.ls1sounds.com ? That might help your decision-making process.

the sound difference would be worth it imo. i went through 8 exhaust set ups in less than 8 months before i went duals, i should have done it the first time. its bad ***. and not as expensive as you think you can shop smart.

ive got LT's and an ORYP dumped under my backseat with no other exhaust at all. and i get compliments all the time on the way my car sounds, granted i think it could sound better but who cares about that, i care about power and this exhaust was cheap for a full time working and full time college student. this is the exhaust run by alot of the faster guys in my car club too.

The x is the key to stopping the rasp! Checkout the sound clip from a x system, its alot deeper!!

Sound is a product of pressure and waves. The same engine will build more pressure in a single 3 inch exhaust than a dual 2.5. More volume equals less pressure yielding less rasp.
