need to quiet car
right now i have two sweet thunder chambered mufflers kinda like a gmmg setup and way to loud since the cam. well to loud for the locals finest. just drawing way to much attention. im debating magnaflow, hooker and the dual/dual but i dont wanna be whisper quiet either . sound clips are kinda hrad to judge volume and everything which doest help. ive heard magna flow on a blower car and is quiet inside big plus as mine is now . but can get a good deal on the d/d and have liked the sound of the hooker's ive heard online. any opinons and outlooks would be appreciated

Get the dual/dual w/ an electric cut out. I know a local guy w/ a cam similar to yours, high CR ported 5.3L heads, SLP LT's & ORY, dual/dual cat back w/ a cut out. Car sounds great closed up, still has a nice growl - but not obnoxious. I think he only gained around 5-7 RWHP w/ the cut out open vs. running through the exhuast. It's the best of both worlds - low key when closed, and then loud when you want it to be loud.
I have the dual/dual on my car w/ an ORY. Very clean sounding, no rasp like the previous cat backs I had on the car. I get nothing but complements on how good the car sounds.

If you want to keep your current exhaust, how about adding cats? Cats will quiet the car down for yah (at least until you hit WOT). The QTP catted y-pipe could be an option for you. Also, I may just have one for sale very soon.

I have a 1996 Z-28 and I have coated Hooker long tubes with a 3 inch Mufflex Y pipe and the Dual/Dual that I bought from a guy that took it off of a 02 Firehawk. I love it, it is very quiet a idle, but when you open it up, it has really good sound and is fairly loud. I had a Flowmaster cat back on it first and when I went to long tubes, it was a little too loud and had a lot of drone. The Dual/Dual is good if you want a fairly quiet but good sounds exhaust. I think I can hear the headers more than I can hear the exhaust at idle.

You can definitely hear it, I like it. It has a nice sound at idle, but when you open it up, it gets quite loud. At WOT, it sounds really good. For someone that wants long tubes, no cats and a fairly quiet car at cruise, I don't think that you can go wrong with the Dual/Dual. I especially like it at cruise, it is very comfortable with no drone.

Dual/Dual all the way. Flows a well as just about anything out there & kills the drone of off-road pipes.

keith get the magnaflow..you cruised behind me on the way to LVD at some points and I've got magnaflow. I doubt you could even hear my car. With headers and your cam you'll just have a nice deep rumble and at WOT it'll scream nicely.
