Just pull the catback instead, you'll lose some weight. FWIW when I had a catback oI picked up 5hp across the board on back to back dyno pulls (closed/open), so if you think that little hp will get you a better time then have at it.

Probably will. My last build I dropped .2 in quarter. Later I did a tune to exhaust c/o's and dropped an additional .3 I have used c/o's in all my builds over the last 40 years and the one thing I consistently noticed is the more HP I yanked out of the engine the more I gained from the c/o's. I would suggest you get a good tuner so you can tune at the track for open exhaust and switch back for DD(if thats what this is)

You're better off with this and no cutout

that's why I was leaning towards just a cut out I just wanted to see if people noticed a difference or nothing at all

I see this all the time. Guys just throw cut-outs on the car and call it a day. You need to change the tune if you run a cut-out...

Just get it tuned how you would drive the majority of the time.

Yes, I'm sure you leave a few horsepower on the table by not having a cut out and cat- back specific tune. But, you don't "need" to have a tune for both

An x pipe will make more power than a cutout and sound amazing

can guarantee you duals will sound better than a GMMG (especially if you're running longtubes and no cats which makes the GMMG raspy and annoying IMO)

alternatively you could use a flowmaster y merge 3" into 3.5" or 4" with a good bullet and turn down welded on it (even a 3" bullet), will flow nearly as well as duals but be lighter and it sounds great

a cutout can make a difference on some and not on others, just depends

My cutout makes a noticeable difference both at the dyno and on the track. My setup would favor a larger free flowing exhaust having the turbo and cutout open before my gmmg was good for 20+whp and about 30tq.My tune was dialed in with the cutout open and then tweaked to find a happy medium for driveability both open and closed. I can see for some that a cutout wont net much hp gain from an already efficient setup other than just making ground pounding noise.

My old 97 Lt1 M6 car went from a 14.05 to a 13.77 with the same 2.0 60ft time. Only change was I added a cutout before the axle. Then again I could've just gotten better at driving the thing.
