Default Catback weld or bolt-on?

i just got in on a magnaflow GP. i was planning on bolting it in at home but a friend of mine said to have it welded in. he bought a bassani exhaust for his stang and the guy he bought it from welded it in for him cause he said that was the only way to go. is he right or does everyone just bolt it in?

It should use stock hangers. You can clamp or weld your choice. I welded mine, disadvantage you have to cut or remove axle to get it back out. If you go with clamps buy the band type. dont use the U type that comes with it.

best of both worlds is having flanges welded on to your y-pipe and i-pipe. that way you'll have a plenty good seal and you can take it out w/o dropping the axle.

I would go bolt on.. I've always used stainless steel band clamps. The one I purchase always seal. Make sure you get the (not cheap ones).

If you really like it and plan to keep it for a while I say weld it to prevent leaks

I can't see any reason for welding it in place, use good quality clamps and you'll be fine.

You can weld everything except where it connects to the headers and where it goes over the axle and still get it out without dropping the axle. Welding mine actually changed the tone a bit. Made it deeper and lessened the rasp.

What we've done around here in the past is put some anti-seize on the pipes before the install, it can help but might not eliminate the problem.

Just tack weld if you have a good seal. That way the pipes can't shift and then later if you want to modify anything all you have to do is burn off the tacks. Use a band clap at the junction of the Y pipe and I pipe
