I change my filter with my synthetic oil every 5-6K miles. I currently use GC 0w30, but before i was using m1 0w40. Mobil 0w40 is an excellent oil no matter where you are.

Just about any oil filter will be good for 5k miles... I use Mobil 1 0w40 and a Wal-Mart brand Supertech oil filter. Change my oil & filter every 5k miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.

I guess if you want to throw money away you could use a K&N oil filter.

Hi Folks
I guess I waste oil and filters because I dump the it after 2500 miles. I have 5 cars (2 drivers) and some don't put on the mileages but time kills me, so I dump it even earlier. I use Mobil 1 and Castro (Synth).

I wouldn't imagine you'd have a problem going 5k miles as long as you aren't running something like Fram.

30wt Mobil 1 tends to be a little on the thin side...German Castrol (0w30) is a little thicker 30wt, and our engines seem to like it. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find, so there are a few of us that have liked the German Castrol, but have to go back to Mobil 1. Their 0w40 is a little thicker than the German Castrol, but seems to be a good substitute.

???

K&N Filters are good...they are just expensive. I know there are a couple of posts in here that make them seem bad, but they just don't want to pay the price. It flows very well and filters just as well. If you drive your car hard (like me), you need an oil filter that flows well.
