Default Replacing flowmaster with magnaflow

Ok I am thinking of changing my muffler. My exhaust setup is Lts, 3" ory, stock catback with 80 flowmaster and cutout after the axle. Heres my question I am looking at the magnaflow but i just want the muffler because i don't want to have to weld in another cutout. So does magnaflow have a muffler i can use? Because I have seen the Magnaflow cat back and one of the tail pipes kinda raps around the muffler

Yes, MagnaFlow does make a crossflow muffler in 3". I used to have one on my Z. They are fairly cheap too.....bonus. Mine was about $70 a year ago. As a side note, I think I'm the only person on this board to switch from the Magnaflow to the Flowmaster. The Magnaflow is much quieter. (It was a little too quiet for my liking.) I tested both at the dragstrip and couldn't see a noticable performance difference between the two mufflers. Anyhow, hope this info helps...... and I'm sure someone will have some negative input as well concerning my Flowmasters.

my magnaflows have a nice semi quiet idle, still enough to turn heads but not enough to attract the wrong kind of attention. but you stomp it and all hell breaks loose. i personally love it

I had Magnaflow on my car before my duals and I really SCREAMS !!! I bet you wont be able to hear a flowmaster 80 if both are side by side a WOT. Magnaflow sounds 100 tmes better than a flowmaster. The flowmaster 80 sounds like a pickup truck.

No, I was running the Magnaflow with stock headers and y-pipe. I have LT's and a cat y-pipe, but won't be installing those till April. Obviously, LT's drastically change the exhaust note, and will make a Magnaflow louder. As for nharrison02SS comment:

I will have to disagree. I had the Flowmaster with Lt's on my 97 LT1, and it was nearly deafening. Also, the only "pickup" my car might be mistaken for is the Dodge SRT-10

Just replacing the muffler won't get you as much of a power increase as would getting the whole catback with the 3" piping. Magnaflow is just one badass catback because it'll play nice when cruising, but as everyone has said, it gets up and screams when hammered on.

After my LT's and ORY I took my Flowmaster off because it was way too loud. I even tryed putting a resonator in the I-pipe to tone it down a bit. Ended up putting my old magnaflow back on. Idle and cruise and light accel is a TON quieter but the WOT is still pretty loud. The flowmaster was still louder all across the board though.

I love the way mi flowmaster sounds with the my LT's and ORY. Isn't the reason people dont like flowmaster because its crossflow design doesn't flow? What makes its crossflow design different from the crossflow of Magnaflow. Personally i dont like the way magnaflow sounds after a rev. When u let off it gives this annoying sound almost like a ricer exhaust sound. It has a nice deep tone on acceleration but when u let off it sounds kinda sorry to me atleast.

While on the subject of the Magnaflow catback, where is the best priced and trusted place to buy one? A link would be most helpful. Thanks.

I love my Magnaflow cat-back on my LS1, it has a very nice tone and isn't obnoxiously loud.

I have the Magnaflow cat-back and I really don't like the way it sounds. IMO the Flowmaster sounds a lot better. I'm not going to get into the whole exhaust flow debate.

I loved my magnaflow with stock manifolds, and it was not loud at all, very mellow. It sounded good with LTs, and ORY, and was louder, but it cannot compare to the duals I have on now. I got my magnaflow from Thunder Racing -> (sponsor) and thought they were really nice doing business with.
