Default ***PICS*** Whisper carbon lid installed

I installed the Whisper Motorsports carbon lid this morning. Looks great, haven't test drove the car with it on yet.

Thanks. I was going to do the Fernco mod but after hearing horror stories about the lid tabs being ripped off, I opted to keep the stock accordian bellow. I am really happy with the quality of the lid, both looks and fit.

I doubt it. My friend had a real CF hood on his ricer that looks nothing like my lid. The lid seems to have a simulated carbon look. It is to my understanding that real carbon fiber would be too brittle to clamp down on with the two retaining clips. But despite it being simulated CF, it still looks real nice. Ten-fold better than the stock crap.

Thanks

Sorry, didnt know that. Anyways, this "debacle" is that when people install the 3"x3" fernco piece, there is practically no flex in the tube to compensate when the motor torques up. I am doing research on a 3.5"x4" stepped fernco piece than should fit a little better and allow for flex. The aftermarket pieces such as the SLP bellow have a thinner middle section which flexes. The fernco is a cheap and easy mod, but people have said that the tabs on their lids have been ripped off over time. There are others who say this never happened to them. I guess the mod only works if the trimming is done right. Hope this helps. Any other questions, shoot them my way.
Thanks
-Andy

My MTI lid would snap out w/ the fernco. It didnt snap the tabs off, but it wouldnt snap the tabs off...

and since when did whisper make a CF lid?
thought mti and tsp were the only ones...
