Default Hell = Driver side poly motor mount install

I have had my car since 1999 and have installed everything myself. That driver side poly motor mount was the most horrible install to date. H o r r i b l e !!!!!!!

A few things helped. I froze the motor mount overnight so it would fit in the clamshell. Ended up taking out the header bolts so I could have more room to work and I have lanky hands w/long fingers. Fat fingered people are doomed. I also cut off the pointy piece of metal projecting from the top of the mount to engine bolt. That gave me some room to work.

I painted the shell, but ended up scatching that **** up when I installed it

The top right bolt is a b _ tch to screw inThat bolt can go to _ ell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank goodness for beer.

Passenger side will be installed next Friday.

*removed !!

you think this install would be alot easier during a H/C install when the motor is torn apart? if so ill order some now, and do it this weekend with my install...

This worries me. This weekend when my car was on the lift i was looking at the motor mounts and the passenger side looked very difficult to reach, and the drivers looked like cake.

Without a doubt it would be easier. Save yourself hours and do with the head swap man.

Yes, it will be much much easier to do with no headers and heads on the car.

I did mine with no headers on the car and it was pretty easy, both sides. I did take the altenator off and the A/C was already off though.

Hardest part for me was actually getting the long bolt back through the motor mount..

Yes, definitely easier with the motor torn apart. The easiest is with the headers out.

Off topic, but can I ask what your F14 specs are? I will be getting the same heads as you and was thinking about upgrading to the F14 or F15 from the 13.

I would rather install the drivers side 100x over before doing the passenger side again. You have to drop the starter, take off the AC compressor, the AC compressor bracket, blah blah blah. And even then its still super cramped. I did it, and I'm glad I did, but I'm happier that its done and I wont ever have to **** with it like that again.
