One Dual In/Out Muffler In Place of the Cats
My hybrid project will be emmisions exempt so here's what I'm thinking... Since I'm using a 1999 Vette rolling chassis (w/ 1961 stepside truck body) I think the spot where the cats tuck up under the tunnel would be perfect for a dual in/dual out high flow muffler (maybe a Flowmaster Detla Flow or 40 series). This would also serve as the psudo x-pipe for cross scavange. I've heard the x-pipe should be as close to the colectors as possible anyway. How much simpler can an exaust system get? (open headers I guess ) LT headers to single dual in/out muffler and all pipe out the back (no more than 6' past the muffler). The question is, would this set-up perform? And would there be any advantage/disadvantage to using a downstream x-pipe?

Or, if I could fit two 40 series flowmaster one-chambers in there that would be ideal. Someone suggested cherrybombs/bullets, but I think the flows would sound/perform better. Any opinions? (Saude TTT=To The Top)

flowmasters are caca
get something that flows well
something straight-through
like those "cherrybombs/bullets"
they are pipes with holes everywhere
and then an outside pipe wrapped around the inner one
with fiberglass between them
although they burn out
and might burn out extra quick because they are closeer to the motor
some have steel wool instead
those dont blow
but my favorite are the baffled straight though
sweet thunder makes some

You're right. "Straight through" is not quite accurate is it? But the 40s are way better than the 80s (flow and sound). I think the 80's might be the only FM option for 4th gen F-Bodies. Not my area of expertise. Anything can be done, it's just a matter of how much persuasion is required.
I'm thinking about one of these under the tunnel (C5). Seems like it would be a clean setup.
