??what intake to get ls6 or f.a.s.t. ? please help
undefinedOk now that i have finished the exhauat order i am now focusing on the intake part of my ls1. i have slp air lip, k&n air filter 85mm maf and smotthe bellow. now which intake would complete the rest of the air intake upgrade? not sure what to do with stock t.b. i would like to port and polish it but i don't know whos does that. what intake would give me the biggest gain for power? also how hard are the swap overs from ls1 to ls6 intake? any info would be awesome thanks guys

get the LS6 intake. Way cheaper, just as good. What year is your car? If its 98-00 ( which I am assuming it is) you're going to have to get rid of the EGR *****. there's a write up on that round here somewhere if you search. Good luck

Agreed, go with ls6 intake manifold. The FAST LSX intake is superior, but only worth the money if you're pushing some very serious horsepower. Those polished LS6 manifolds look awesome but they also are expensive.

those polished LS6 intakes aren't all that much better than the normal one. plus they soak up all kinds of heat...which is bad.
i would have gotten race-type Kooks, if they're not shipped yet see if they can change the order. ditch the AIR and EGR.

Yes, it will throw a code and will need to be turned off with some editing. Should do tuning anyway with mods like header and intake swap.
I don't think you need big cubes or 600HP to use the FAST intake from what I read on this site from doing searches, you just need a max effort motor, even stock cubes see nice gains at the track over the LS6. I'm with the rest here though on using a LS6 intake for your mods...

I say youll need the FAST intake once you start spinning the motor over 6500(where the LS6 starts to fall off) not really max effort. Here in texas (where it seems that everyone is cammed and runs 11's) a lot of people are running the 90/90 on big cam and heads cam combos and have seen gains enough to justify the money.

ive had an ls6 intake and ported TB for 3-4 years and also ported heads and cam recently purchased the 90/90 combo because its the next step up on the ladder. if i could have purchased the 90/90 combo back then i would have because i wouldnt have to do it now, and if you plan on keaping your car for a while(like i do) you have to remember the golden rule that "horsepower is addictive" and that you never have enough. so plan your purchases that way and in the long run you save.
