my slp lid rubs the hood, is this common?
a buddy to me that all SLP lids hes seen have rubbed, has anyone experinced this? its to the point were i need a new lid, so i thought about insted of getting another one, just getting the K&N FIPK. if anyone has this one, have they experinced it rubbing?
p.s. my hood sits up fairly high so i'm sure it isnt the hood stops...

I think it's hit or miss. The SLP aftermarket lid on my buddy's `98 SS rubbed, on my `99 SS it didn't. The blackwing on my `02 doesn't.
I remember the FIPK being beat to death on here a few years ago, it looked good but the filter is open to suck hot air in from the engine bay and it cost $$$. Most people thought a good lid with a CAI seemed better. Really, I don't think it was ever solved either way.

Yea, mine rubs. But I've got an aftermarket hood, too. If you ever want it to look good, just throw some Armorall on that bad boy and you won't be able to tell (until it starts rubbinig again). I just deal with it. But, I've heard a lot of good things about that K+N. I've got an SLP FloPac though.

i'm leaning towards the K&N FIPK, hell i got to change it anyway due to the huge scuff on the lid. i know the k&n is expensive but i love the way it looks...
