Default Removing CATS???

will be orderin headers in the next few months but for the time being i have to get rid of my cats. my car just has basically a Flowmaster catback and its way TOO quiet.
wanna take off both cats and weld in some pipe but i have been readin about everybody snappin the studs that connect the cats to the manifold.
my car only has 16K mile son it...should i worry about it???

also, if i do break a stud, what kind and what size bolt should i go back with??? im gonna go ahead and buy some and take them to the shop just in case...

thanks

Why not get a louder/ better flowing catback and save you self the trouble and loose the cats when you get your headers.

I hate to say it, but I'd just wait until I got headers and get a new catback to replace the flowcrapper while you're at it. Flowmaster catback for these cars doesn't flow well at all.

hey man loose the cats but ditch the flowmaster put a hooker or something nice. I have the flowmaster with headers and ory and it sounds pretty good most of the time but from 2500-3200 it starts making a poping sound like a glasspack. I hate it, so I will be getting a new catback very soon. And the other reason I am getting rid of it is because when crusing on the interstate it has a drone in the interior and I have to turn the radio up a little to much. So I want a cat back that has no drone at highway speeds. Have to many loud cars I want one a little quiet

Default What kind of gains did you guys see with your header install?

What kind of gains did you guys see from your car with just headers and all the other basic bolt ons??
My mods are in my sig.

I am thinking of getting a dyno tune. I am not sure what kind of power I am making now??????????????

I hear a difference and feel a slight difference in power.
I just want some input.

Thanks Guys.

just get a cutout, and do the ORY when you put the headers on. It'll save a lot of time and $. It'll be plenty loud, and a cutout sounds real good on a stock motor. Just drones a little bit around 2500-3000rpm.

Instead of giving advice you didn't ask for, I'll just say that the best way to avoid breaking the studs in the first place is to be sure to soak them down with lubricant 24 hours in advance. There are a few good products out there but the one I used was called "Cold Shock" and I got it through Miller Welding.
Another is called PB Blaster.
