Default Is this right?

Well, to solve my oil leak situation, I got the car up on a lift this morning. I looked under and realized that the oil pan gasket was leaking, and sprayed onto the starter shroud, where it dripped. Well ****, thats a pain in the ***.

Also, I noticed that the water pump started to leak. This of course was out of the bleeder, but it means immediate replacment of the water pump. So I called around, $286.xx for a water pump and 78.xx for a gasket? Is that right? The water pump was a re-man, and 308.xx for a new one.

Thats pretty ******* steep if you ask me. I love how every-time I buy a car it immediatly throws a water pump, and leaks oil.

Well I plan on having it back on the road by tuesday. I'm busy all weekend and I got other things to do.

78$ for a water pump gasket Call one of the sponcers you can get them for 5$. You can get a cam swap gasket /bolt kit for 40+-. Might want to ask them for the water pump while your at it.

78.xx for the oil pan gasket. I understand the confusion.

How long does it usually take for thunder racing to deliver? I would like to have the car back on the road by next week.

Doesn't the 2000 have the reusable gaskets? I thought I read it somewhere 99 and up has them for the water pump.

The water pump gasket is fine. The oil pan gasket isn't. The oil pan gasket cost 78.xx, not the water pump gasket. The water pump is leaking out of the bleeder, commen place for a water pump. The water pump needs to be replaced.

I'm really asking about the oil pan gasket price and the water pump. Do they usually list this much (not including online wholesalers) in your local town, or w/e?

I would look at the oil pan bolts first. Probably just loose.

Be sure to look up the torque specs on http://www.ls1howto.com/

nope gasket looks like it sat at one point, you can see that it has dry cracks in it, and where it is leaking. Obviously it has swealed, but it prolly got aged or some-thing.

umm... the oil pan gasket is rubber and metal. Are you seeing something else?

Yes, metal can't seal very well if the rubber dried out around it..

Think about this, Get a hose. Take the rubber gasket out of a nossel the screws onto it. See if it leaks.

W/o the rubber gasket, the metal can't do much to prevent the leak. It makes perfect sense to me.
