Had to Quiet the car down
Well, due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to remove the Hooker C/B and replace it with a factory (plug) muffler. I still have the LT's, Lanes custom Y and the 3 inch I pipe....just have a stock muffler on it know from a 93 LT1 car.
Anyone know if there is a difference in flow from the stock LT1/LS1 mufflers and the SS mufflers?
Is there a high flowing or at least better flowing muffler out there that is as quet as a stock setup?
I've only driven the car at work for 2 days and the thing has really lost top end...seems like it's choking itself
Suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kev

Do you have the option of going to an electric cutout?
I decided to go back to a stock muffler to keep it quiet around town and on the freeway. When I want a little volume, I open it a bit. When I want it loud, open it all of the way. No power lost either because I can open it whenever.
Just a thought???

It's definately an option. I'm just leary about any clearance issues and malfunctions due to the car being driven thru the medians all the time. Any thoughts on who makes the best ones ??
Also, PM me if ya have a chance...I have a vert question for ya.
Thanks,
Kev

SLP Dual/Dual without a doubt is the exhaust you need. It'll be stock-like quiet but flow much better (most say its the best flowing catback on the market). Or just throw an electric cutout after the axle and before the muffler if you want a loud sometimes/quiet sometimes setup. Overall the SLP exhaust is going to be the better bet IMO.

This is not my auction but it may be a cheaper way to get the dual dual muffler and tailpipes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7985134475

I've got a dual/dual off my SS that I am willing to part with. I had to cut the pipe that goes over the axle but it should be easy to weld up. If you want I can get pics of it. Not sure how much it would cost to ship it.

I know someone with a SLP dual/dual catback and it is quiet. I think it would be your best bet Kev. The police car in Dville had an SLP cat back but I don't remember which one I'll have to go and look. It was pretty quiet but I don't think it was as quiet as the dual/dual
