Big Mac's tonight.
Well, I had my stock cats go bad on me, so my final obstical for not buying headers has fallen.
Picking up a set of coated Mac mid-lengths with all the emission plug ins. I figure the aftermarket cats will not only keep me green, but kill the rasp too.
One question for all you guru's out there. I'm not getting my 224 till I pay off my credit cards, and that's in Febuary. Will the headers be able to run fine without a tune? I'd rather just tune the damn thing once and be done with it.
Oh, and FWIW, I know LT's > Mids, but fit and finish are more important to me than 5hp. (I know.... blasphemy )
Any input welcome. Thanks.

I think you'll be ok. I went from stock to LT's and TD's. My car is running a tad bit rich (I can smell it when I get out of the car). Other than that I have no problems with idling or any misses.

Thanks for the thoughts fellas. A bit rich is what I thought you would say. I'm going to look into the money issue now, and see if I can't just do it all at the same time. It's not a matter of if I can do it now, it's a matter of if my wife will LET me do it now.
I think with a few solid days of lobbying, I've got about an even shot at it. I'll keep ya posted.
It's good to be back.

the wife's car is on the stock tune with all the bolt ons and vinci ported heads and runs fine. tried tuning it and kept getting about 3 less rwhp. so, i left it alone. when i had only the bassani headers w/catted y-pipe and borla catback, it ran slightly rich on the stock tune.

I went almost two years with a lid, longtubes and duals on the stock tune. Looking back I wish I would have had it tuned, but I was really strapped for cash so I just waited till I got a cam. The car ran perfectly fine.

I just threw mine Mac's on today.
I'm running a tad rich but I have a few other issues going on(exhaust leak, long story lol)
I'm getting a tune just because..but the car is certainly driveable as is.

Good news!! Talked to the wife earlier, and we're go for launch on the cam too. We're going the whole schibang, cam, headers, tune.
Hey WILLWAXU, thanks for the offer, I'll probably take you up on it. Where do you live in SD?
I've never been hot on the idea of underdrive pullies. They're good for a couple HP I'm sure, but I don't like the idea of underdriving my systems. I'll probably just pass on it. Anybody think that's the stupidest thing you've ever heard?
Thanks guys, I'm going to order my stuff right now.
Anybody know a good dyno tune shop in SoCal?
