Just failed inspection with LM. Which muffler/resonator to get?
Previous owner told me that car has SLP exhaust, and I throught that they all come with a resonator... aperently not. Guy at the station was pretty cool and said he'd like to see a muffler there, but resonator will do the job as long as it's a bit quieter.
I mesured and I have about 21" after the Y pipe with 3" and 21" right after the axel with 2.5".
So, which muffler/resonator do you recommend? I love the sound of my car now, and don't think there is anything that could make it sound better, so I guess I'm just looking for something cheap and something that will not rob my power.
So what should I get and where should I place it?
thanks

What? Did he put the car on the lift and actually look at the I pipe? There is a big *** resonator smack dab in the middle of it. And if it's a newer LM they now have an actual muffler similar to the Borla XR-1s. I'd take it to another shop.
If for some reason the previous owner removed it, just stick a Dynomax bullet in the I-pipe.

I'd go with the stock set up. Go ask the old owner for the stock cat back exhuast so you can get it through inspection.
I hate a loud exhaust but if you like it OK by me...
Loud exhausts say to the MAN, "Give me a Ticket!"

Can't afford to spend $120 on a muffler and then another $50-60 to get it welded, kind of a budget now.
I found these 2 glasspacks, what do you guys think? Which one should I get?

or this one?

Links don't work, but the first one is the summit glasspack, second one is Hedman Glass Pack Mufflers, and the third one is dynomax bullet. Which one would quiet me down the most, but still keep the performance?

Go with a 12-18" dynomax bullet instead of the Summit glass packs. They are cheap and sound good, still loud though. The 12" is alittle more loud and alot less tame, probrably be the closest to how the car sounds now. If you really want to quiet the car down, go with a Flo Pro twister. They flow great and will quiet the car down.

It's the fact that there is no muffler or resonator. It's just straight pipes from the Y.
Plus I had to pay him for the rest of the stuff he did. It was the only thing that failed, so he told me to take care of that and he'd pass me.

well, I have the copy of the inspection paper and there is like 100 different things that he has to check and muffler is one of them, so no muffler no pass. I think laws in MD are just a bit different than NC.
