Default fram air hog?

anyone using them with any luck? my dads been having issues with the k&n on his avalanche and on there forums it has something to do with the oiling of them. ive also heard a couple guys on here say that theyd rather usea quality papaer filter as opposed to cotton.

I use fram paper on mine, don't plan on ever changing it. I honestly don't see the point in blowing that much money on an air filter that you will see 0 gains from

i use a re-usable filter but not fram. it is OK but NEVER put oil on the filter element. eventually it will find its way onto the MAF wires and then you are screwed. I thougth GM dealers got tired of seeing oil on MAF wires and decided to void warrantlies for these related probems?

Use Holley Power Shot or Green Machine Filters. They are very high perf, the Holley has Sensor friendly oil, you will never need to buy another filter. Do not excessively oil them.

I dunno what other people's troubles are, but I use an airhog on the Camaro, and i have had no problems whatsoever. Take it out and throw it in my dish washer when it gets dirty! I feel better performance vs a paper filter higher up in the powerband, despite other people telling me I am crazy. I will definetely keep using it as long as possible.

Oh Also I had to modify the stock filter tray to get it to fit a little though. Oh well.

I as well use a gauze type filter with ZERO problems. The people that are getting oil on their MAF must be using a 5 gallon bucket to re-oil their filter after cleaning

If you properly clean/oil the K&N you won't have problems. Too many people are in a rush to get the filter back on the car after recently oiling it. You gotta let it sit for at least a day or so to soak in.

Not a day, but I like to give it 30 mins or so to soak in, then I can add some more to any white spots remaining.

30 min. def isn't enough, that's why the MAF's get screwed.

I'm not saying if you only wait 30 minutes that it definitely will. It's like using comp 918's on a .600 lift cam. Sure, they're supposedly rated up to .600 lift but why test that on such a vital part of the car when you could have easily bought dual springs that would be 100% safer (or in this case, waited a day to play it safe)? Personally, it just isn't worth the possible trouble and extra money you have to spend on a new MAF + possible tuning. Different strokes for different folks though.
