Hooker Aerochamber owners inside....
I need to know if with headers and catted Y-pipe the hooker cat back produces DRONE at 2000~2500 rpm on LS1 engines going up-hill at part-throttle for example, in 3rd gear.
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

Thanks! It seems like the LS1s have that 2000~2500 rpm spot that when under load at partial throttle is just a big PITA.
I was wondering if the hooker cat back with the aerochamber muffler would quiet things down on that range. I have F13 cam and TEA 5.3 heads plus QTP LTs and QTP catted Y-Pipe.

I ended up ditching my hooker for a dual/dual after my QTP headers/catted y install. I put a few thousand miles on it first, it was just too loud, and yes it did drone between 2-3k.
Thats my taste though. others like it loud.
Good luck

mine is quiet on the inside going down the highway at 2000 rpms. not near the drone that my truck has at 2000 rpms with the flowmaster thats on it. I'm going to get a hooker aero-chamber to replace that flowmaster to get rid of the drone. I really like the aero-chamber for the sound, loud outside and quiet inside, and it flows good too.

That's interesting. A lot of people here say that even with ORY and LTs the hooker cat back is quiet. Your opinion (fasteddyss) is that is loud with catted-Y.
I'm confused because all I want is to have no drone at that rpm range, and some say the hooker is "way too quiet" while others say it's loud.
Besides stock, isn't the hooker the quietest out there on part throttle driving?

Well, THIS is how my car sounds today -- it's badass but man, it's annoying cruising at 75~80mph because of that 2000~2500rpm range. No rasp, just DROOOOOOOOOOONE....

I have the Hooker cat-back, custom MAC off-road y-pipe with Flowmaster merge collector, and MAC headers.
I have gone through several exhausts including the Loudmouth, GMMG w/ MACs, and duals with 14" Magnapacks.
I prefer the sound of the Hooker. It idles fairly quiet, it cruises somewhat quiet, and you definitely notice it just driving around. I certainly wouldn't call it quiet, but it is one of the quieter cat-backs with headers.
At WOT mine is pretty loud...almost as loud as the duals were...and I really prefer the sound of the Hooker. It is more mellow and less raspy. I also have no drone, but do get the infamous bellow around 2300 rpm.

I also have the hooker aerochamber & love it. Cant wait to get my Pacesetter LT's & ORY. I agree with the loud outside & quiet inside comments. I thought it was too quiet because of the VERY low interior noise but then I let my wife drive it away from me while I listened & realized it is louder. If you want a good sounding exhaust with minimal interior noise I dont see one better than the Hooker.

The Hooker will definitely be quieter than the GMMG. Although I haven't heard my car at WOT while outside the car, I can tell you it is definitely quiet on the inside. I've never noticed any drone with this catback. But, even if there is some drone, it's not loud enough for me to notice. I'm very picky about droning, and I have an A4 which makes it worse than in M6's. I used to have a B&B catback which is pretty quiet as well, and the Hooker is definitely quieter. My brother has a 2000 Formula with only a Borla (3/4 plate) and lid, and his car is WAY louder than mine with all the mods I have below.
Here is how I'd rate the quiet exhausts starting from the quietest...
1. Stock catback
2. SLD dual/dual
3. Hooker
4. B&B
Good luck !

I have a Hooker catback on my SS with a F13 also and it sounds great. QTP long tubes with a custom off-road Y (with flowmaster merge) and there is no interior resonance. Very little rasp at part throttle even in that 2000-2500 zone. I've been through 3 exhaust setups and this is the one I'm sticking with.
