Default difference between a cut-out and a TSP cat-back

so far the only mod I have on my 02 ta m6 is

a hooker muffler ( aerochamber, not the whole cat back)
and a cut-out under the passenger seat,

so cutout close, too quiet "no rumble", no v8 sound to it
open cut-out, loud but too much drone at the famous drone RPMs range and no definition in the sound.

so my question is : would the tsp rumbler quieter than the cut-out open,
would it sound any different?

thanks for your imput ( please comment on interior resonance, and sound definition)

have a good one

Cedric

PS : just picked up a lid for 40$ ! maybe it ll halp with sound and performance

a lid won't do anything for sound. adding a different catback will probly help give you the "rumble" you're looking for.

First of all I your cutout location if not very good choice, I have my cutout install at the rear of the car by the axle right as where the 3 inch exhaust pipe turns over the axle and goes to the muffler. that is the only spot where the exhaust can exit streaght out and completely by pass the muffler, and less cabin noise too since its in the back of the car. Second the TSP setup will be laoud and better sounding than the cutout, but you loose back pressure perminently. The best sounding exhaust I have heard on the F-bodys is by far the GMMG chambered exhaust, it might be little costly but the sound and performance you get is priceless.

Where does all this backpressure stuff come from. Don't worry AT ALL about "losing" back pressure. People tend to associate a shift in the powerband with back pressure and losing low end torque. You may lose low end torque SLIGHTLY with the rumbler catback, but you're more than making up for it higher in the RPMs.

To answer your question, the rumbler will be considerably quieter than the cutout, especially where drone and interior resonance is concerned. That is a pretty terrible location for a cut-out if you're worried about cabin noise.

Be careful with exhaust setups like the rumlber and loudmouth though. Once you add LT's and an ORY

Get some headers. That will wake the hooker up.

well thanks for your answers, I tried to get the cutout zed style after the axle, but the welder guy couldnt figureit out
anyway, I m thinking about the rumble a lot, especially since I want a cat back under 300 $, any other better sounding cat back for the same price?

thanks for those replies

I like my Rumbler, nice sound, I get compliments on the sound at WOT from the guys at work, not alot louder than stock @ idle (helps keep the neighbors happy since I leave @0500)
Easy install, took all of 10 min
Easy to take price
Overall a good choice in a less expensive catback
