Default Z06 85mm MAF and TSP 85mm lid

Installed and tuned Friday at Exotic Performance Plus. Total cost of mod for MAF, lid, wire loom, and tune was over $400.00.

Power was up 6 rwhp and torque was up by 3. I started getting knock retard at higher rpms even at 12 to 1. EPP desensitized the knock sensor a little, but still getting retard at high RPMS. So they left it and suggested running a little race gas and I may gain another 10-15 rwhp.

Not a mod that is worth the money you pay for the gains you get at my meager power level. I had this more in mind for the future when I plan on adding displacement and/or a power adder.

before rwhp= 429 after rwhp = 435
before tq= 399 after tq= 402

Tourque curve looked the same, pretty flat all around.

I am running 104 no-lead now, Will hook up a scan tool somewhere and see if I am still getting knock retard.

I went to the strip Friday night to test it, but they never prepped the track and I ultimately gave up after fishtailing in third almost caused me to brush the wall.

I don't get it, I don't have half the traction problems on the street that I have at this track It's almost worth it to me to drive two hours North to Stanton or 2 hours East to Milan in Detroit.

Anyway, my previous best 1/4 mile trap was 118.66, my new best Friday night was 118.81, but my 1/8th mile was down 1 mph because I couldn't hook up in second at all. Again, I get a little tire rollover on the 1-2 shift on the street, but I don't blow them loose like I do at US131 motorsports park.

might help to pull a little timing at those higher RPM's. FWIW - you might also look into an SD tune - see the link in my sig

Thanks, for the response, if I remember right, the 'puter was only pulling a couple degrees of timing. what does the "sd" in sdtune stand for? (forgive my idiocy)

Speed Density...as in, you tell the car to ignore the MAF. I have a TSP 85mm lid and a descreened truck MAF, and I run a full time Speed Density tune. Works for me, but haven't had it on the dyno in a long time.

Thanks, makes sense. How many folks are running this way? Can you take out the MAF altogether or does the PCM still look for it.

There are quite a few of us running full-time SD (but I don't know how many for sure)...and yes, you can take the MAF out altogether if you wish. I left mine in since it has the IAT sensor embedded in the MAF, which is a crucial component of the calculations.

I'm new to this whole idea, I had a speed density system on my Omni and everyone was always telling me that I should switch to a MAF system. Now I have people telling me the opposite!

Yeah...tell me about it. I've been very, VERY happy since I made the switch. My car has never ran this well.
