Did the fernco
If you ask me it was a total PITA. I even trimmed it like the site says and I thought I would never get it aligned right with everything. Anyway, as you all know you can't feel a bit of diffrence but what the hell. It only costs 6.00 so might as well try it out right.

i know the feeling i did the tbody bypass today and that was pita too! maybe it was just me but it took forever to get the hose from the driver side off the tbody. and then putting the hoses on the little metal thing was a bitch too. i busted my knuckes all to pieces, you would have thought i did plugs or something. i thought headers were easier than this especially for what you get in return.

I did the fernco mod a long time ago, and ended up taking it off to put the stock acordian piece back on. The way I see it is this: the stock piece is flexible so when the engine torques, it doesn't place any high amounts of stress on the lid. With the fernco in place, there is very little (if any) flexibility in it, so any movement the engine undergoes is transferred to the lid, more importantly those four little tabs that slide into the radiator support. This could fracture them if the engine moves enough and we all know the stock motor mounts (especially old/worn ones) allow a lot of movement for the engine. In short, I didn't want to risk breaking my lid for a minimal at best increase in air flow. Plus, I can swap out my filter with the stock piece without having to remove the whole lid/maf assembly.

When u take the acordian piece out u can see the angle it has on the lid side.Match up the ferco against it,and cut the angle the same way. Then heat it up in the microwave.A little dw40 and that thing will slide on like butter.

What size fernco is it supposed to be? The MAS and the throttle body are two different sizes by about a half an inch. I tried using a 3" fernco and it wouldnt fit and I measured the size of the throttle body and it would be impossible for me to trim it down to fit becase there isnt enought rubber to take away.

I used the 3x3 fernco andmine fit just fine. It took a little work but if you boil it in water for about 10 min you can stretch it over the TB. But before you put it on the TB you need to trim about 1/4 inches off ofthe TB side. I had to take mine off and put it on several times before I got the fit correct. Looks great now and had zero problems.

I used a different kind of fernco coupler, and it fit great after it was trimmed.

Just for reference I measured and the 3.5-4" coupler is the correct size needed for a normal lid to MAF connection. Lid is 3.5" and MAF 4" in diameter.
