Underdrive Pulley?

Use a chain wrench to hold the OEM pulley while removing the old crank bolt. Use a 3 leg puller to get the pulley off. I have a BIG allen head cap screw that I put in the crank bolt hole for the 3 leg puller rod to buck up against. I put a couple of thick flat washers under the head of the allen head cap screw that are just slightly smaller in diameter than the OD of the crank. Tighten away till the pulley comes off with a long piece of pipe slid over the end of your 1/2" breaker bar for extra leverage. No messing up the crank threads with this method. Push the new pulley on with a 120X16X2mm bolt. When that bolt bottoms out you remove it and install a NEW TTY GM bolt. Use your cheater bar to get the old bolt out and to get the new one torqued to approx 250 lb/ft. I've done 2 ASPs and have had great results.

Installed the SLP pulley a couple of months ago. Easy install, didn't notice any SOP improvement or MPG but the thing looks good and has to help. Also, haven't noticed any problems with the charging system at all. I have been waiting for other mods to do another dyno run but may go ahead and do one for ***** and grins anyway. If I do I'll post the pulley before and after numbers.

Also, heat the pulley in the oven at 250 for 20-30 minutes & it will slide right on.
And if you are using a dbl roller timing set, the ASP might need the snout machined to fit. Mine bottomed out on the oil pump & had to be removed. That said, I installed one & saw 0 gains, dyno or track. I'd spend my $ on something else....

Install is pretty easy for a mechanically inclined person. Having an impact and an impact swivel socket will make the mod go so much better. Make sure you read a how-to on the install. Some people pull the threads in the crank while they try the install. It actually worked for me the first time, but I got a longer bolt to do it right the next time. Save yourself some headache and get a good 3 jaw puller. At least Craftsman.
Voltage dropping at idle is normal under certain conditions. I even have the alt overdrive pully and when the a/c and cooling fans come on at idle the altenator can not keep up. Not a big deal, 1000 RPM is enough with my pulley to power everything. I am actually going to put the stock pulley on now for more of an underdrive. I thought I was ordering an underdrive alt pulley, but glad i got what I did for a daily driver.
