Pour it slowly through the throttle body making sure not to let the engine die. After you have gone through about 1/2-2/3 of the bottle empty the rest of the bottle through the TB or vacuum line. If the engine didn't die, turn it off. Let it sit on the valves of the heads for a good few hours. When you start it up next, there will be smoke, lots of it.

That should do it. Seafoams isnt' really meant to clean the TB as it is supposed to clean the inner workings of the engine. If you want to clean your TB take it off and blast it with some purple power or something like that.

Does anyone know the proper name of the top
cleaner SeaFoam product? Because I was at the
local AutoZone the other week, and they had at
least three SeaFoam products on the shelf but
none of them looked like the right idea, and the
store geezer had no clue what I was talking about.

Just says SeaFoam on the can and runs about $4. When you read the back of the can it will have 101 ways you can use SeaFoam (similar to baking soda).

Edit:
It's the can on the top left

Seafoam also makes a product called deep creed which basically has the same gunk fighting abilty just in an aresol. Your best bet for cleaing the TB itself is to find a TB cleaner made by 3M. it is sensor safe and works extremly well. Most napa's should cary it.

Not trying to hijack a thread, but I ran a vacuum line from the PCV port on the TB into a can of Seafoam. I let the motor suck in what it could take without dying, and tried to drown it with the last bit of the stuff, but wound up having to turn it off. Is that a good approach to it???

I wouldn't recommend trying to kill your engine with it...something about that just doesn't seem like it would be a good idea.

For pouring it in, just use a funnel and pour it through the brake booster line. The line is big, and will get the job done. The next time I do it, I'm gonna pour half through the brake booster, and the other half through the PCV or EVAP inlets. That way you make sure you get an even distribution front to rear (but it really shouldn't matter).

Thats the same reason I have never used the can I have in my garage. Even though my dad has used the stuff many times and I have always been impressed with the results. For some reason, I don't feel like using it when I don't have a reason too really.

Well, I'm not too sure if it is safe...it has certainly not damaged my car. If you get up the nerve to do it, do it in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Then watch as everyone ***** themselves as the parking lot fills up with smoke. It is mildly amusing.

I heard you can pour it in the gas tank when you have a full tank? Any thoughts on that? I imagine it would work, but prolly not as well.

Yes you can put it in the gas. It also acts a fuel stabilizer for storage in the winter.

I used it twice. It didn't smoke nearly as much as other people's but it still did it's job.
