Default open headers

hey guys how safe is it to run open headers for a week or so, just driving to work and back, being gentle on the car

You run the possibility of ******* your o2 sensors up cause of all the fresh air. People have run them longer without any problems though.

if i run a 12-18 in extention with turn downs will it be alright. i plan on doing the same thing

Yeah you dont want to have to little pipe from the Collector. You still run the risk though.

what size pipe is good i was thinking 3in on a 3in collecotor just expand the end to slide over the collector

the reason i am asking this question is because that other thread got outta control. I WILL NOT put any open loop tune on my car to have 30 year old technology. i just wanted to know how to safely run open headers. is the extentions a temp fix or could the car be drive like every weekend like that or will the o2s go bad.

Pull your O2's and that will FORCE the system into open loop. Think about it, it will have no other choice but to use the preconfigured A/F tables hence the lack of feedback from an active sensor. <--this is for short term tho. Run at least 12" of pipe off the collectors for a more long term setup.

It would be fine to drive with extensions, but it will get old i promise

A much better solution would be to buy some 12"-18" bullets and clamp them on with maby some dumps. It would sound better and offer more protection for your O2's.

Thats how i daily drive my car and you can't beat the sound with a stick!.
