Default Cleaning 02 sensors??

I pulled the 02 sensors out of my y-pipe and was going to put them in my new race longtubes. Should I clean them, or is this just a bad idea ????

How?

They have a bit of black carbon buildup on 'em.

Thanks

I assume you have a '98. Do you remember the last time you changed them? If you don't just buy some new ones or if you wanna save some money and you're not having issues throw them back in.

I have seen people use carb cleaner on them however it seemes to be a quick fix....best thing to do is purchase new one's and save some headaches down the road.

Use a propane torch to burn the carbon off, then spray them down with electrical cleaner. Don't waste money on new ones.

I used an oxy-acetyline torch. I just made sure that I held it a good deal away from the O2, and had it turned down on low. That sucker sure burned the carbon off quick! Those things can get 3 times hotter than the propane torch.

Get you a little $16 torch from Lowes, and go to town.

coulld 02 sensors be the cause of my problem?_ alright i have an 02 z28 and everytime i accelerate theres this flutter noise then somtimes sounds like theres metal shooting threw the motor- i dont kno if its because of my sensors being shot and causing the cats to get clogd and building stuff back into the motor?
